Image Guidelines Pet Portrait

Guidelines for Uploading Your Pet Photos

Get Started In 3 Easy Steps

1. Upload Your Photo: Choose a well-lit photo of your pet and include it with your order so our digital artists can begin creating your personalized portrait.

2. Personalize Your Artwork: Add your pet's name to make your artwork uniquely theirs.

3. Proof and Shipping: Sit back and relax while our illustrators transform your photo into a masterpiece.

Good Examples

  • Pet facing the camera at eye level
  • Image taken in a brightly lit room with minimal shadows
  • Face and neck are clearly visible
  • High resolution

  • Pet facing the camera at eye level
  • Image taken outdoors with great lighting
  • Face and neck are clearly visible

The image you upload is crucial to the quality of your final pet portrait. Follow these guidelines to ensure your artwork is picture perfect:

  • Lighting: Take a photo or choose an existing photo taken in daylight or a brightly lit room.
  • Quality: Use a smartphone or high-quality camera.
  • Avoid Dark Lighting: Avoid photos taken at night or in rooms with dark lighting.
  • Visibility: Ensure your pet’s face and neck are visible in the image with minimal shadows.
  • No Filters: Avoid using filters to ensure accurate coloring of your portrait.
  • Framing: Ensure your pet’s face is not cut off or cropped out of the image.
  • Color Photos are best but we can work with black and white photos if that is all you have of your pet.
  • Positioning: Make sure your pet is looking directly at the camera at eye level and facing forward. Other positions are allowed, but your pet will be shown in that position in the final portrait.
Accessories: Collars, leashes, bows, and other cute outfits will be illustrated in your final pet portrait. In some cases, we can remove collars, tags, and leashes (please leave a note at checkout), but ensure your pet looks the way you want them to be painted.

Bad Examples

  • Neck is not visible
  • Low lighting and heavy shadows

  • Pet laying down
  • Head and neck are not completely visible (cropped)
  • Indoor dark lighting and heavy shadows

Not Sure?

Email your image to us at support@celebrateportraits.com for assessment. We understand it’s not always possible to follow all the guidelines, but generally, our digital artists can still create your pet portrait.
